(Executive Order No. 155) Further Improving Access to Healthcare through the Regulation of Prices in the Retail of Drugs and Medicines
To continually adhere to the strategies of the Universal Health Care Act in making essential medicines accessible and affordable to Filipinos, President Rodrigo Duterte signed the Executive Order No. 155 on December 7, 2021 to regulate the retail prices of essential drugs and medicines.
As per E.O No. 155, the prices of 34 drug molecules with 87 drug formulations have been reduced to as much as 93% from their current market prices. The said molecules include medicines for hypertension, diabetes, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), end-stage renal disease, and other chronic conditions such as psoriasis and Parkinson’s disease.
